Overview of the ControlBar

The ControlBarThe ControlBar is the default Control Panel provided with DNN. Control PanelDNN comes with a choice of two Control Panels called ControlBar (default) and the RibbonBar. A third tab called "Bookmarked Settings" displays any functions that have bookmarked by the current AdministratorRegistered users who are members of the Administrators role. These users have full access to manage the site including adding, deleting and editing all pages and modules. Administrators also have access to the Admin pages located on the main menu.. Administrators can add commonly used features to this tab simply by clicking the Add to Bookmarks button that is displayed when the mouse hovered over the name of a submenu.

The Host Menu

• Upload File: Opens the upload file interface of Digital Asset ManagementA Digital Asset Management (DAM) system solves the problem of managing large collections of files by making them searchable and usable. DAM provides the tools for finding, organizing, and searching large collections of files. which is located on the AdminRegistered users who are members of the Administrators role. These users have full access to manage the site including adding, deleting and editing all pages and modules. • Clear Cache: Select to clear the cache of all old files. Restricted to SuperUsers.
• Recycle Application Domain: Select to restart force the server to restart the current site and retrieve all new files. Restricted to SuperUsers.
• Switch Sites: Select a new site to view by selecting a site from the list. Restricted to SuperUsers.
• Switch UI Language: Select the language of the DNN user interface. This allows translators to manage the content in a given language (the current language selected on the language selector) but still use a different language for the UI. For example, a user could edit the content in Chinese using an English interface.

The Help Menu

• Online Help: Opens the Help resource for this site as set by a SuperUserThese users have full access to manage the settings and content of all sites with this DNN installation, including the Host site. • Getting Started: Select to view the Getting Started with DNN page which contains links to resources including video tutorials, links to personalizing the site and more. This option is only displayed for new DNN installations. Restricted to Administrators only.

• Add New ModuleDNN uses a modular design system to display content on a page. One or more modules are added to each site page to create and manage the site content. There are many different types of modules, each managing a different type of site content or site administrative tasks.: Select to being the process of adding a new module to the current page. Users can also use this menu to bookmark modules to add them to the Common modules category. Users must be granted Edit Content rights to the page. Users must be granted Add Content or Full Control rights to the page. See "Adding a New Module (ControlBar)"
• Add Existing ModuleDNN uses a modular design system to display content on a page. One or more modules are added to each site page to create and manage the site content. There are many different types of modules, each managing a different type of site content or site administrative tasks.: Select to being the process of adding a new instance of an existing modules to the current page. The Pages Menu

Pages Menu:

• Add New PageA page on a DNN site.: Commence the process of adding a new page to the site. Users must be granted Add or Full Control permissions to the current page. See "Adding a New Page"
• Copy PageA page on a DNN site.: Select to copy the current (or any other) page including modifying modules. Users must be granted Copy or Full Control permissions to the current page. See "Copying a Page"
• Import PageA page on a DNN site.: Link to import a page. Users must be granted Import or Full Control permissions to the current page. See "Importing a New Page"

Edit PageA page on a DNN site. Menu:

• Edit This PageA page on a DNN site. / Close Edit Mode: Select to enable or disable module editing on the current the page by exposing the module action menus. Users must be granted Add Content or Full Control permissions to the current page.
• Stay in Edit Mode: Mark  the check box to change to and stay in Edit Mode for all site pages. Users must be granted Add Content or Full Control permissions to the current page.
• View in Layout Mode: Mark  the check box to view the page in Layout Mode. Layout Mode displays the layout of the skin that is applied to the page and shows the location of modules on the page however only the title and module actions menu of each module is shown and module content is hidden. This view allows users to quickly view and change the location of modules on the page. This view is also helpful when a module must be deleted or moved but the module action menu cannot be accessed when the content is displayed. Users must be granted Add Content or Full Control permissions to the current page.
• Mobile Preview: Opens the Mobile Preview pop up that allows users to see how the current page is displayed on a mobile device. Users must be granted Add Content or Full Control permissions to the current page. See "Previewing a Mobile Device Site"
• PageA page on a DNN site. Settings: Opens the PageA page on a DNN site. Settings page for the current page. The Permissions tab is only display to user with Full Control. Users must be granted Manage Settings or Full Control permissions to the current page. See "Setting Page Details" and See "Configuring Advanced Page Settings"
• PageA page on a DNN site. Appearance: Opens the PageA page on a DNN site. Settings page with the Appearance section of the Advanced Settings tab expanded. Users must be granted Manage Settings or Full Control permissions to the current page. See "Configuring Advanced Page Settings"
• PageA page on a DNN site. Localization: Opens the PageA page on a DNN site. Settings - Localization tab for the current page. This option is only displayed when content localization is enabled on the site. Users must be belong to a translator role. See "Enabling Localized Content"
• PageA page on a DNN site. Permissions: Opens the PageA page on a DNN site. Settings page for this page with the Permissions tab. Users must be granted Manage Settings or Full Control permissions to the current page. See "Setting Page Permissions"
• Export PageA page on a DNN site.: Link to export a page. Users must be granted Export or Full Control permissions to the current page.See "Exporting a Page"
• Delete PageA page on a DNN site.: Select to delete current page. This option is disabled for special pages such as the Home page, Splash page or the User Profile page. Users must be granted Delete or Full Control permissions to the current page. See "Deleting a Page"
• Publish PageA page on a DNN site.: Select to publish the current page. See "Publishing/Unpublishing a Page"

The Users Menu

The Users menu is restricted to Administrators only.
